Dear friends,

Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga will spend the next 14 years in a Malawi jail, sentenced to hard labor.

They aren't murderers. They didn't steal. In fact, they didn't commit a crime.

They were convicted of homosexuality.

I call upon the progressive men and women of Malawi -- and around the world -- to challenge this decision in the name of human dignity and equal rights for all.

I am shocked and saddened by the recent decision made by the Malawian court. As a matter of principle, I believe in equal rights for all people, no matter what their gender, race, color, religion, or sexual orientation.

This week, Malawi took a giant step backward. The world is filled with pain and suffering; therefore, we must support our basic human right to love and be loved.

I will not sit back and be silent while two men are sentenced to 14 years hard labor simply for loving each other. I hope you will add your name to mine, and speak out to your friends and family on this issue:

Somewhere In The English Countryside, In A Stately Manor Home, Madonna Is NOT Weeping

Following she-said reports that Madonna had no clue what Glee even was, the woman herself has released quotes to UsMagazine.com, dubbing "the Madonna episode" of the show "brilliant" and more:

"The dialogue and the entire script was genius. I completely appreciated the layers of irony, especially when all these macho boys sang 'What It Feels Like for a Girl.' I also loved the fantastic performances of 'Vogue,' 'Express  Yourself' and all the messages about the boys being respectful to girls. The entire cast was so amazing. They're all so talented. I especially loved Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and Kurt Hummel's (Chris Colfer) characters. [Show creator] Ryan Murphy did a great job bringing all these elements together. Lola loved the show, too. I wish I went to a high school like that...if only."

Even if there's no chance Madonna actually mouthed those words, Entertainment Weekly agrees. (Of course, the right wing thinks Glee exists to indoctrinate our children into anti-Palin liberalism.)
